Bikers for Books library fundraiser revs up

The Warren-Newport Public Library District is getting ready to hit the road Sunday, Aug. 27, for Bikers for Books. The "Luck of the Draw" Dick Welton Memorial Ride and Road Rally kicks off at 10 a.m. from Jesse Oaks Food and Drink, 18490 W. Old Gages Lake Road in Gages Lake.

The ride will travel west to the Volo Auto Museum; north to Kickstand Bar & Grill in Camp Lake, Wisconsin; east to the Welton Memorial in Gurnee; and back to Jesse Oaks for a total of 66 miles.

After the ride and poker run, enjoy an after-party at Jesse Oaks. There will be lunch, a cash bar, live music, 35 raffle baskets and a grand prize for riders that includes an overnight stay at Harrah's in Joliet.

Registration for the ride is $25 per vehicle in advance, $30 at the event. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Those who prefer can just attend the 1 p.m. after-party for $10.

Proceeds support educational technology for children. Donations are tax deductible. Cars are also welcome. The event will take place rain or shine.
