Buffalo Grove Rotary hosts 'Duck Race' fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove will host its annual Duck Race fundraiser - one of the club's largest fundraisers of the year - which begins promptly at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, during Buffalo Grove Days at Mike Rylko Park, 801 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove.

More than $3,000 in cash prizes will be given to 13 winners. The owner of the duck that waddles the fastest through the course will receive a $1,500 cash prize, the second place duck gets $500, third place $250, and the owners of the final 10 ducks that cross the finish line ahead of the rest of the pack, each will receive $100 in cash.

The duck racecourse has been reconfigured since the 2016 event, and will provide an even more exciting experience as the crowd cheers on the ducks to racing victory.

"This event raises funds that allow the Buffalo Grove Rotary to continue all of the charitable efforts that we sponsor each year. We invite residents to purchase a duck, or even a flock of them, and enjoy the fun while knowing they are contributing to efforts that support those in-need in our local, as well as international community," said Bill Donohue, the Duck Race chairman.

One Lucky Duck is $5, a Quack Pack (six ducks) is $25 and a Flock of Ducks can be purchased for $100. Area businesses are also invited to join as a sponsor of the Duck Race to build their brand in front of the greater Buffalo Grove community.
