Submitted by Cynthia Lauletta

Kids in Action Gymnastics Academy in Lake Barrington has had a successful year with their girls GIJO/AAU gymnastics team.

All levels 2-6 placed at every meet, many placing first or second, but it's been the team's Level 6 gymnasts that have been on fire this year. They placed first at the state meet followed by a first-place win at regionals in Rockford.

The last meet of the year was nationals which took place in Kingsport, Tennessee. Six of their Level 6 girls represented KIAGA and continued the streak of placing at the top of the podium.

Samantha Marvin, 10, from Cary placed first in the all-around competition in her age group and took home an even more prestigious award, winning the All-American. This award is given to the gymnast who had the highest overall score of the entire meet.

Jade Moranetz, 14, of Lake Barrington and Kiana Fleming, 12, of McHenry both placed first in their age groups as well. Moranetz nailing her win with a 9.7 on beam.

Kamila Gilowski and Jessica Lake, 13, added to their team's victory, Gilowski placing first on beam, second on floor and 3rd all-around; Lake placing fourth on Floor.

Evie Anderson, 15, also helped clinch the win, scoring 9.475 on beam and taking second place in that event.

All, but one of the six are moving on to Level 7 next season. KIAGA says a sad goodbye to Evie Anderson and her long career at the gym.
