Report: Executive, escort under investigation for taking $5.8 million from company
A Buffalo Grove businessmen is being accused by the FBI of giving an escort access to his company credit card and running up nearly $5.8 million in unauthorized charges, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
A court filing obtained by the Chicago Tribune claims the woman rented a 6,500-square-foot mansion in San Diego, took trips all over the world, had the company pay for plastic surgery in Miami and planned to open a spa with company cash, the Tribune is reporting.
Scott Kennedy held the top financial position for France-based Nemera at its U.S. manufacturing plant in Buffalo Grove. The company told the Chicago Tribune it fired Kennedy after an internal investigation confirmed suspicions of improper financial activity.
The company, which makes drug delivery devices, told the Tribune it quickly notified law enforcement and has fully cooperated in the FBI investigation.
Kennedy and the escort are not named in the court filing, but Kennedy himself identified himself to the Tribune as the business executive named in the FBI document. The former escort is referred to as Individual B by authorities.
The court document says Kennedy and the escort are under investigation for fraud and money laundering, but records show criminal charges have not been filed against either.
