Edward Foundations sets fundraising record
For the ninth year in a row, the Edward Foundation set a record - $462,000 - for funds raised at its annual Charity Golf Tournament.
More than 320 golfers took part in the 24th annual event at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont. They donated funds through sponsorships, donations, raffles, games and the purchase of tournament contest bracelets.
Otis Wilson, former Chicago Bears linebacker, was the celebrity guest.
The winning team on Cog Hill's Dubsdread course featured Jim Cavanaugh, Chris Maul, George Parr and Rick Schweiger. The winning team on Cog Hill's Course #1 and #3 featured Pat Crowley, Erin Finnegan, Tom Giroux and Tyler Stanley.
The event featured a Helicopter Ball Drop, in which entrants paid for a chance to have a numbered golf ball dropped from a helicopter and land closest to the flag. The winner was Joe Vozar of Naperville.
The foundation's next major event and fundraiser, its 27th annual gala, The Big Gig: Fusion, will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at The Westin Hotel in Lombard. For details and to register, visit www.eehealth.org/EdwardBigGig.
The foundation, the charitable fundraising organization of Naperville's Edward Hospital, was established in 1990 and has raised more than $46.5 million in its mission to support the hospital's community health care initiatives, including free services and health and wellness programs; centers of excellence such as Edward Heart Hospital and Edward Cancer Center; and programs that make Edward unique, like the Ronald McDonald Family Room.
