Grayslake farmers market brings community together

The Grayslake Summer Farmers Market stretched down a block of Center Street as more than 50 vendors were on hand with their goods Wednesday.

The market features farm fresh and prepared foods, arts and crafts, music and children's activities.

"The market brings the community together. The community really comes out to support us," market manager Julie Jason said.

The Grayslake Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization that operates a weekly three-season outdoor shopping experience in the historic downtown center.

The market has been running for approximately 25 years, according to Jason.

The summer market runs 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Sept. 20. The fall market operates Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 30 to Dec. 16. The spring market is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, April 8 to May 27.
