77-year-old dies after going back inside burning house
PETERSBURG, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 77-year-old woman died after going back inside a burning home in rural southwestern Indiana.
The Pike County Sheriff's Department says a man and his daughter were outside the house and not hurt when deputies arrived Monday at the house a few miles outside Petersburg. Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kent Johnson tells WFIE-TV that they were hysterical because another person had gone back into the house to retrieve some items but hadn't come out.
The department identified the victim as Dorothy Kinman.
A cause wasn't immediately determined for the fire, which left the house about 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of Evansville in rubble.
