Lombard looking to improve communication
Lombard is encouraging residents to connect on social media and to sign up to receive a weekly e-newsletter to receive important information and emergency alerts, following the village's discontinued use of the CodeRED Emergency Notification System.
In the event of an emergency, the village's communication response will include:
• Updates and information at villageoflombard.org, as well as on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
• Email alerts and updates. Sign up for emergency alert emails at villageoflombard.org/notifyme.
• Messages on the electronic message board at Main Street and Wilson Avenue.
• Releases to local and regional media to spread news and information via television and radio channels.
"While the CodeRED service has been helpful for conveying information to the public, other forms of communication have proved to be even more effective," public works Director Carl Goldsmith said.
