Statue removal is proper

The removal of Robert E. Lee's statue should be cheered. He was directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands Americans in order to preserve the idea that slavery is good. When the Army of Northern Virginia swept into Pennsylvania, he captured free blacks and made them slaves. History records instances in which his troops massacred black Union soldiers rather than let them surrender. We should only memorialize those who made exceptional contributions to our country and protected or expanded our freedoms.
