Highland Park may extend moratorium on landmark requests without owner consent

The Highland Park City Council will consider extending the moratorium regarding involuntary landmark designation at its July 24 meeting. The moratorium was to have expired Aug. 13, but an extension is proposed through Feb. 12, 2018, to allow more time for research and discussion. The city council in February approved a moratorium on landmark nominations of properties, structures, areas, objects and landscapes without property owner consent to allow time for staff to review regulations in light of concerns on behalf of a property owner.
