Take part in Arlington Heights police's coloring contest

The Arlington Heights Police Department has launched its first National "Knight" Out Coloring Contest, which is co-sponsored by the Arlington Heights Park District and the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Entrants submit their very own coloring rendition of Nat the Knight for a chance to win prizes. Grand prize winner of each age category will receive $25 in gift certificates. Additional gift certificates will be awarded for second, third, and fourth place. The age categories are: Pre K-grade one; grades two-four; and grades five-six. Submission deadline in Tuesday, July 25.

The winners will be selected based upon creativity and originality. Children may use crayons, watercolor, pen and ink, markers, etc. to complete the drawing. Submissions will be judged by Arlington Heights Police Department Community Services Bureau personnel prior to National Night Out 2017.

Winners will be announced at National Night Out during Opening Ceremonies (attendance not required, but encouraged).

Winners' artwork will be displayed at National Night Out at the Arlington Heights Police Department's Crime Prevention booth. One entry per child.

Copies of the Arlington Heights Police National "Knight" Out Coloring Contest sheets are available online at www.ahpd.org, www.vah.com, at all Arlington Heights Park District facilities, the Arlington Heights village hall and the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Completed submissions may be dropped off at Olympic Indoor Swim Center, Arlington Heights Park District Administration Building or the Arlington Heights Police Department. Submissions received after Tuesday, July 25, will not be accepted.

Winners will be notified by email or telephone. Submissions may be used for promotional purposes - entrants' names will be redacted from submission in those circumstances. Please use the official form when submitting artwork.

National Night Out will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at North School Park, 410 N. Arlington Heights Road. For details, contact Brandi Romag, police department, (847) 368-5330 or bromag@vah.com, or Katie Newport, park district, (847) 577-3046 or knewport@ahpd.org.
