Applications available for rehabilitation loan program

Applications are being accepted for the Village of Arlington Heights' Single Family Rehabilitation Loan Program. Through this program, eligible low and moderate income homeowners may qualify for 0 percent interest, deferred loans to make home repairs.

No monthly payments are required. Loans are repaid when the homeowner is no longer the owner occupant of the home, typically upon the sale of the property.

Eligible home repairs are those needed to bring the home into compliance with village code and may include items such as new roofs, electrical and plumbing work, window replacement, energy efficiency improvements, and modifications to improve handicapped accessibility. Decorative remodeling, landscaping, including tree removal, and room additions are not eligible.

Participants must meet the low and moderate annual taxable income limits of the program, which are up to $43,050 for a household size of 1; $49,200 for a household size of 2; $55,350 for a household size of 3; and $61,500 for a household size of 4.

For more information, including maximum annual incomes for larger households, call Nora Boyer, housing planner, at (847) 368-5214.
