Cookout, bags tournament July 23 to support the Uplift Mark Benefit Fund

Join the Uplift Mark Cookout Fundraiser on Sunday, July 23, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1415 W. Lies Road in Carol Stream.

Sugar Grove resident Mark Herwaldt was recently diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and his symptoms have come on quite aggressively.

The church, which is his employer, will host a fundraiser featuring a cookout, spaghetti dinner and bags tournament from 3 to 8 p.m. The cost for bags tournament is $20 per team.

The spaghetti dinner is $10 or $8 for children, age 12 and younger. Other menu items include pulled pork or hamburgers for $5, hot dogs for $4, soda for $1.

At 3 p.m., join them for a Divine Mercy Prayer in the church.

All proceeds will directly benefit the family and allow them to make their home wheelchair accessible so the family can remain together, and also cover medical expenses.

Additionally a website has also been set up for donations at posthope.org/support-the-herwaldts/donations. Or mail a donation check to the Uplift Mark Benefit Fund, P.O. Box 685, Sugar Grove, IL 60554-0641.

Any help will give Mark and his family great hope as they walk this difficult journey together.
