Elmhurst garage fire causes little damage

No injuries were reported and damage was minimal in a Tuesday evening fire inside a detached garage on the 600 block of South York Road in Elmhurst, firefighters said Wednesday.

Firefighters were called at 5:57 p.m. by a resident of the home who saw smoke coming from the garage. Crews forced their way into the garage and quickly extinguished the fire with little damage to the structure's interior.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Elmhurst Fire Department was assisted by crews from the Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park and York Center fire departments.
