Roosevelt Road reopened to traffic through Lombard

Traffic was flowing along Roosevelt Road in Lombard again on Friday after a natural gas leak forced the thoroughfare to close for much of Thursday between Highland Avenue and Westmore-Myers Road.

Village officials say the road reopened to traffic around 9 p.m. Thursday.

They said contractors ruptured a gas line while working on a water main lining project about 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

Throughout the day Thursday, traffic was detoured south to 22nd Street and motorists were advised to avoid the area where traffic delays were extensive.
