OTR's Midtown Crossing Apartments Taking Applications and Hosting Community Meeting July 11th
EVANSTON, IL -- Over The Rainbow Association (OTR) is now accepting applications for its 11th apartment community, Midtown Crossing Apartments, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Scheduled to open in mid-November of 2017, the new apartment community will be located at 751 Graceland Avenue in downtown Des Plaines, and contains 33 barrier-free, affordable, and accessible one-bedroom apartments, aimed at applicants who need the design features of the project's barrier-free units.
For those interested in applying, individuals will need to fill out the online Housing Authority of Cook County application, available starting July 6th. (www.thehacc.org/). A community meeting for prospective residents to apply will be held on Tuesday, July 11th at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines. Staff will be available to assist people with filling out their applications. Requirements for applying include a valid ID, Social Security card, birth certificate, and proof of income and assets per federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit requirements. The church is across the street from the Midtown Crossing site currently under construction. For those attending the meeting, there is a handicapped entrance off the parking lot on Marion Avenue.
Midtown Crossing Apartments features full kitchens with accessible counters for those in wheelchairs, wheel-in showers, elevators, parking, a meeting room, and laundry facilities. In addition, the building is a short distance to both the Metra and PACE bus systems and to popular amenities, including the Des Plaines library, a community college, retail, and several restaurants.
