Des Plaines Independence Day Parade: 10 a.m. today. Steps off at Wicke and Center streets, north on Center to Prairie Avenue, east on Prairie and ends at Prairie and Pearson streets. Review stand at Thacker and Center streets. Theme is "Our Heritage, Our Future." www.desplaines.org.

Hawthorn Woods 4th of July Parade: 10 a.m. today. Celebrate America with a march through town ending with a flag-raising ceremony at Hawthorn Woods village hall, 2 Lagoon Drive. Parade starts at Falkirk and Carlisle, continues on Lagoon Drive and ends at the village hall. Free. www.vhw.org.
Lincolnshire Red, White & Boom Parade: 11 a.m. today. Northwest Fourth-Fest Parade: 9 a.m. today. New location, starts at Hassell and Hilltop roads, continues west to Huntington Boulevard in front of the Hoffman Estates village hall. Prospect Heights Fourth of July Parade: 10:30 a.m. today, starts at St. Alphonsus Liguori, 411 N. Wheeling Road. Staging starts at 9:30 a.m. The new route goes south on Wheeling, west on Willow Road, and north on Schoenbeck Road, ends at Hebron Presbyterian Church, 511 N. Schoenbeck Road.
