Most Lake County businesses pass liquor compliance test
The Lake County Underage Drinking and Drug Prevention Task Force sent teens to businesses that sell alcohol to test whether the businesses would comply with the law. According to a news release Monday, the vast majority of businesses passed the test.
Of the 211 businesses where the teens tried to buy booze, only 16 businesses sold it to them.
"Our desire is to see 100 percent compliance, but it is refreshing to see the majority of businesses realize the seriousness of this issue and did not sell alcohol to the underage participants." task force Chairman Terry Vandergrift said.
The task force formed to combine the efforts of the Lake County Chiefs of Police Association and the Lake County After School Coalition. It includes community members, parents, law enforcement personnel and other professionals.
