Lisle swimmers participate in free lesson day

A couple dozen youngsters jumped in the water for a free swim lesson Thursday at Sea Lion Aquatic Park in Lisle as part of a global event to stress the importance of teaching kids to swim to prevent drowning.

The World's Largest Swimming Lesson was created in 2010 by the World Waterpark Association to build awareness about the importance of teaching kids to swim to prevent drowning.

On Thursday, during a 24-hour period, hundreds of pools in more than 20 countries on five continents offered free swimming lessons for kids ages 3 to 16 with the hopes of setting a Guinness World Record.
