Party on! 'Wayne's World' anniversary celebration wraps up this summer

Aurora will conclude its six-month celebration of the 25th anniversary of "Wayne's World" - the "Saturday Night Live" movie set in the city - with events in June and July.

Wednesdays at the Plaza hosts a special "Wayne's World" concert with Noah's Arcade at 7 p.m. June 28 at Millennium Plaza, 21 S. Stolp Ave. The band, joined by local troubadour Kevin Trudo and led by guitarist Noah Gabriel, will play favorite songs from the movie as well as originals.

On Tuesday, July 4, the city parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Aurora includes several nods to "Wayne's World." Aurora Downtown, an organization of business and property owners within Special Service Area No. 1, joins in the parade with a "Party On!" float featuring air guitar and look-alike competitors.

The grand finale, "Party On! 25 Years of Wayne's World," happens right before the fireworks start at 9:35 p.m. at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway Ave., Aurora. The city invites spectators to head bang to "Bohemian Rhapsody" in an attempt to beat the current Guinness World Record.

Participants should wear a bandanna or a flannel shirt and congregate toward the front of the stage once "Stairway to Heaven" is played. Then the Fox Valley Orchestra will perform "Bohemian Rhapsody" live on stage to a headbanging crowd.
