Chicago authorities rule 3-year-old's death a homicide

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago authorities have ruled the death of a 3-year-old girl who died from an assault as a homicide.

Authorities responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to the call of a toddler who wasn't breathing. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner identified the child as Jesipel Aleman. An autopsy shows she died from multiple injuries resulting from the assault. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police didn't release further details.
