No injuries reported in Palatine house fire

No injuries were reported from a Palatine house fire caused by a malfunctioning space heater late Sunday, authorities said.

Palatine firefighters were dispatched at 11:35 p.m. Sunday on a report smoke and the smell of something burning in a single-family home in the 1500 block of Alison Drive.

Officials said the smoke and flames turned out to be from a first-floor bedroom. The fire was declared out at 11:48 p.m. and flames were contained to the bedroom.

The blaze was fought by 18 firefighters, staffing two engines, two ladder trucks and three ambulances. Palatine police assisted at the scene with traffic and crowd control.
