Greenhouse donates flowers after vandals strike Indiana park

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (AP) - A South Bend greenhouse has stepped up to make a donation after vandals destroyed hundreds of flowers in a Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH'-kuh) park.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2rWLFL6 ) that Martin's Greenhouse donated the flowers last week to the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department. Volunteers planned to help plant them Monday morning at Battell Park.

Mishawaka police are still investigating who destroyed the 250 flowers that vandals trampled and removed. The greenhouse donated more than 480 flowers to replace them. A class from nearby Beiger Elementary School originally planted the flowers.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call police or the park district.
