Man fearing pig attack fires shots at porker that was a pet

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a man who thought a pig was going to attack him in southwestern Indiana fired shots at the animal, which turned out to be a nearby resident's pet.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says the pig began approaching the man and others Wednesday at an Ohio River boat ramp near the Indiana-Kentucky state line.

Deputies say the man, fearing the animal was a wild pig readying for an attack, fired shots at it with his licensed gun.

WFIE-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2rtExoq ) those shots missed and the pig wasn't injured.

Police determined the pig belongs to residents who live near the boat ramp at the Angel Mounds State Historic Site on Evansville's south side.

Deputies say the pig is tame and just got excited when people showed up nearby.
