St. James students support Tanzania hospital
St. James students showed their team spirit and raised more than $1,000 to help the Mugana Designated District Hospital in Tanzania.
Students were given an opportunity to make a donation to the Mugana Hospital project and, in turn, were allowed to wear either a Cubs shirt or a shirt with the colors of the Tanzanian flag. Even Principal Judy Pappas and many other faculty staff participated.
The Mugana Designated District Hospital services the 200,000-plus population of the district of Missenyi, including the village of Bwanjai, which is the hometown of St. James' Associate Pastor Fr. Gilbert Mashurano.
Students also have an opportunity to support the cause during the rest of the school year by making small donations when they come for second helpings at lunch.
Additional support for the hospital project has been provided by contributions from Glueckert Funeral Home and a local "Party with a Purpose."
More information regarding this cause and information on how to donate can be found at the Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/MuganaProject and the campaign page, https://www.thebridgesofhope.com/campaign/mugana-project.
