Chicago-area man sentenced to 7 yrs for injuring infant

CHICAGO (AP) - A 54-year-old suburban Chicago man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for severely injuring an infant in 2011.

A Kane County prosecutor' statement Tuesday says a judge sentenced Nicholas E. Glucksmann of Batavia last week.

Prosecutors say the infant lived with Glucksmann and his girlfriend at the time when they brought the child to an emergency room. Doctors called police after concluding the types of injuries to the child's head indicated abuse. They didn't believe Glucksmann's story that the child fell off a bed.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said Glucksmann never accepted responsibility. And the Tuesday statement says the child continues to recover.

A judge convicted Glucksmann in 2015 of multiple battery counts. He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
