Virginia names Andres Pedroso as new men's tennis coach
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Virginia has named Andres Pedroso men's tennis coach and the Cavaliers' director of tennis.
Athletic director Craig Littlepage made the announcement a day after the Cavaliers men's team won its third consecutive national championship. It came in the final match for coach Brian Boland, who is moving on to become the head of men's tennis for the United States Tennis Association player development.
Pedroso spent four years as the Cavaliers' associate head coach from 2010-14, helping the Cavaliers to four consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference championships, its first national championship and two ITA National team national indoor titles. He has worked since as a private instructor in Florida.
Besides coaching the men's team, he will oversee both the men's and women's programs at Virginia.
