St. Catherine of Siena students get letter from the Pope

In September, at the beginning of the school year, students in Sally Quinlan's third-grade class at St. Catherine of Siena School in West Dundee wrote letters to Pope Francis.

It was a culminating activity related to the book "Letters to the Pope."

Students wrote questions they were curious about to Pope Francis and drew pictures of him.

"They prayed hard for a response from Pope Francis and low and behold they were very excited their prayers were answered," Quinlan said.

The students are shown displaying a photo and letter they recently received stating: "His Holiness Pope Francis was pleased to receive your kind messages. He thanks all of you for writing to him and he is grateful for your prayers. The Holy Father will pray for you and your teachers, and he sends his blessing."
