Springfield sign company puts Lincoln print, wisdom on wall
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Motorists and pedestrians passing the Old State Capitol or Abraham Lincoln's law office will now encounter a giant image of the 16th president a few blocks south.
Ace Sign Co. has donated a vinyl print in the downtown of Lincoln's home city. It includes a suitable legend: "In times like the present, men should utter nothing for which they would not willingly be responsible for through time and eternity."
Ace president Dennis Bringuet (brihn-GAYE') tells the (Springfield) State Journal-Register (http://bit.ly/2rwVvyZ ) that Lincoln's words are as relevant today as when he spoke them in December 1862.
The portrait decorates the blank wall of a state-owned building. Bringuet says he wants downtown "beautified wherever possible."
Artist Cat Clausen of Dwight says that for her, "Lincoln and art come together."
