Buffalo Grove Rotary Seeks Nominees for Bill Reid Community Service Award

The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove is seeking nominations for the 2017 Bill Reid Buffalo Grove Community Service Award. Nominees should demonstrate a strong commitment to the Buffalo Grove community, similar to that of Bill Reid, who was a longtime resident and Village trustee - affectionately known as 'Mr. Buffalo Grove' before he passed away in 2000. The award was first given out in 2001.

In addition to serving as an elected official, Reid was also a charter member of the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club and an active community volunteer. He was an educator for 30 years, and held several positions in Township High School District 214 including assistant principal. Reid was known for continually investigating new, creative ways to make Buffalo Grove an even better place to live and raise a family.

"The Bill Reid Buffalo Grove Community Service Award highlights what makes our Village such an excellent community; we have countless individuals who are willing to raise their hand and volunteer their time and their talents," said Buffalo Grove Rotary Club President Dane Bragg.

Area residents are asked to submit nominations by June 1, 2017. Nomination forms, along with an attached written statement that summarizes the nominee's community service in Buffalo Grove are required. Additionally, supporting letters, statements or documentation can also be provided with a 'second' to the nomination from an additional individual.

The award will be presented at the July 4, 2017 Rotary Village Green Concert. The winner will receive a recognition plaque, along with a $500 contribution from the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove for the recipient's charity of choice (the charity must be a 501 (c)(3) charitable and/or recognized organization). The recipient's name will also be engraved on a plaque that lists each year's winners that is located inside Buffalo Grove Village Hall.

Application forms can be found at bgrotary.org and mailed, or dropped off at: Appell Dental Group, Attn: Aaron Appell, 4230 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004.
