Bensenville woman gets jail for biting South Barrington police officer
A Bensenville woman who bit a South Barrington police officer after her March arrest was sentenced to 60 days in jail and two years of probation in exchange for her guilty plea.
Amber Perchelli, 22, pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated battery to a police officer, court records show.
A South Barrington police officer arrested her early March 19 near the intersection of Penny Road and Revere Drive. The officer had stopped to investigate a car parked on the side of the road with its hazard lights on and noticed Perchelli in a ditch striking a male, prosecutors said.
Perchelli, who prosecutors described as "combative from the start," refused to cooperate with officers and was taken to the Hoffman Estates police department to await a search by a female Schaumburg police officer.
As officers attempted to move Perchelli from the general lockup to a private room for the search, she bit the original arresting officer in the thigh, prosecutors said.
The officer was treated and released.
