Police arrest man in connection with fatal hit-and-run
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police have arrested a man they accuse of striking and killing a 90-year-old pedestrian, then driving away.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says in a news release the woman was crossing North Illinois Street Saturday night, when she was struck by a vehicle. Investigators say the 47-year-old man who drove off was arrested when he later walked back to the scene.
Police say that the man was taken into custody on suspicion of leaving the scene of the accident causing a fatality.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim. It wasn't immediately clear if the suspect has been formally charged.
