A 4-run top of the first powered the Dukes (19-10) to victory. Ryan Ross went 3-for-4 with 2 triples while Nick Lee had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Joey Yaeger drove in 2 runs. Starting pitcher Austin Gelsomino struck out five in 3 innings. Relievers Burke Corcoran, Carl Baker and Tamaine Durr allowed 3 hits in 4 innings.
Montini 6, DePaul College Prep 1:
Alex Luka doubled three times and drove in a run for the Broncos (15-14, 10-9) in their Chicago Catholic League win. Robert Mrazek and Seth Quick combined on the mound.
Benet 2-3, Marian Central 1-1:
The Redwings (20-10, 10-6) swept in the East Suburban Catholic despite managing only 8 hits on the day. Gio Ahern and Steven Arrowsmith were the winning pitchers. Mike Dunn homered and drove in 2 runs in the second game.
Naperville North 7, Waubonsie Valley 5:
With the DuPage Valley game tied 5-5 through four innings, the Huskies (11-15, 11-9) pulled ahead with a run in the fifth and seventh inning. Brendan Lacey, Jack Ginzkey and Jack Whitley each had 2 hits at the top of the order. Whitley and Matt Schwartz drove in 5 runs. Mark McCabe was the winning pitcher in relief. Nick Lamoso went 3-for-4 and Luke Gregorio had 2 RBI for Waubonsie Valley (14-14, 9-11).
Glenbard North 7, Metea Valley 5:
The Panthers (12-17, 7-14) scored 3 insurance runs in the top of the seventh to win in the DuPage Valley. Nick Frawley went 3-for-5 and winning pitcher Jasper Serences drove in 2 runs. Danny Zorn and Cade Sullivan had 2 RBI for Metea Valley (12-16, 9-14).
Willowbrook 16, Glenbard West 5:
Falling behind 3-0 after three innings, the Warriors (22-6) ended the game with a 9-run bottom of the sixth inning. Jon Kelso and Mike Dembowski each went 3-for-4 and drove in 5 runs. Ryan Mintz added 2 RBI. Jack Nilles was the winning pitcher. Grant Lalla went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI for Glenbard West (11-18).
