GreenSeed Contract Packaging announces top leadership appointments

BATAVIA, IL (May 4, 2017) - GreenSeed Contract Packaging today announced top leadership appointments driving its transformation toward becoming a growth-inspired, client-centered contract packaging company in the natural and healthy foods space. David Gray has been named president and chief growth officer, a newly created position that reflects the company's focused commitment to growth for the people who make, market and consume healthy foods. Jeff Sawyers now assumes the position of chief operating officer for the company. Both appointments are effective immediately and support the company's strategy to offer more agile creativity and "what-if" innovation to food manufacturers.

"These appointments lead the GreenSeed team into its next stage of growth as our business continues to expand in North America and internationally," said Don Reed, CEO of GreenSeed.

"We will now be in a better position to anticipate the trending needs of our customers faster, grow the individuals within our team as well as our supply chain partners, and put more emphasis on ideation for greater innovation to packaging solutions," Reed continued. "Both David and Jeff bring strong leadership skills and business acumen to GreenSeed and have been a proven asset to our team since we started the company."

Gray, formerly GreenSeed's executive vice president of sales and marketing, spent the majority of his career in private equity. Prior to becoming a founding partner in GreenSeed, Gray served as a director for San Francisco-based Greystone Capital. There, he led due diligence, integration and long-term growth initiatives in the area of operations and quality improvement for newly invested companies, and created exit strategies for holding companies.

"The natural foods industry has a real and vibrant energy," said Gray. "Healthy foods, organic foods, nutritional options that make our lives better are nourishing more and more people every day. GreenSeed plans on being a major contributor to elevating and expanding the packaging options for people in this space."

Sawyers has steadily moved up the ranks at GreenSeed from vice president to executive vice president of operations prior to assuming his new position as COO. He spent more than two decades at Power Packaging where he held several leadership roles in operations, managing the assessment and implemention of packaging solutions for major CPG food brands.

Reed underscored Jeff's appointment as being critical to GreenSeed's strategy. "We are pleased to have Jeff lead and architect our operations," said Reed. "His expertise in operations for mid-scale to large-scale projects will help GreenSeed serve the needs of our clients as they continue to grow in the natural food channels."

"I am looking forward to helping center our expansion around our clients' ideas as they augment their healthy food offerings and launch new products," said Sawyers. "We'll be right there beside them - all the way, every step of the way."
