Get lawmakers to the table on budget
Here we go again. Illinois has not had a balanced budget since 2001 and Mike Madigan and his minions outright refuse to negotiate with Gov. Rauner for a balanced budget that includes reforms. Illinois already has the lowest bond rating of all 50 states and most likely our bonds will be rated junk if we do not have a balanced budget passed by June 30.
Democrats (Madigan) say reform is just too much of a precondition for a budget. That's exactly why we are in this mess today, and we will leave billions and billions of dollars of debt for our children and grandchildren to pay off.
More spending, higher taxes, massive debt, no change, that is the Madigan way. Sixteen years without a balanced budget and Madigan was speaker of the House every one of those years.
The reforms proposed by Gov. Rauner are realistic and will significantly improve our economy. Call your state representative and state senator and tell them to please come to the table for the good of our state.
