Softball: Kaneland, Geneva, St. Charles E. win with stellar pitching

Aly Jesionowski threw a 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts and 3 walks Tuesday as Kaneland's softball team defeated Rochelle 5-0 in a Northern Illinois Big XII crossover game.

Jesionowski also had a triple and 3 RBI for the Knights (19-10-1) while Hannah Theobald and Maddy Wheatley had 2 hits each. Morgan Weber (2 RBI) and Lexi Abruzzo each added doubles to the win.

Geneva 10, Larkin 0: Ali Dierks threw a 5-inning no-hitter as Geneva (25-2, 14-0) remained unbeaten in the Upstate Eight River. Katie Keller homered while Annika Radabaugh had 2 doubles for the Vikings with Kyla Jo Chenier, Kaitlyn Plocinski, Keller and Dierks each adding a double.

St. Charles East 15, Elgin 0: Krista Sbarra tossed a 5-inning no-hitter for the Saints (23-5, 11-3) in the UEC River. She struck out 7 and walked 1 and added 2 hits and an RBI at the plate. Delaney Devor (2 hits, 3 RBI), Rylee Stout (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Megan Daly (2 hits, 2 RBI), Alyssa Thurman (2 hits, RBI) and Paige Ligocki (2B, RBI) led the SCE offense.

Batavia 6, Streamwood 1: Allison Bahlmann had 3 hits including 2 doubles to lead Batavia (14-10, 9-5) to a UEC River win. Toni Galas added 2 hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs while winning pitcher Jaelen Lisberg added a double and an RBI. Laura Dietrich had 2 doubles for Streamwood (10-10, 7-7) and Rebecca Daley added 2 hits.

Hampshire 10, CL South 1: Hampshire won its 20th game of the season as Peyton DeChant had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Delaney Rummell added 4 hits, Melissa Esparaza had 3 hits with 2 RBI, Sarah Bowen 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI and Gwen Malecke a home run with 3 RBI for the Whip-Purs (20-9, 10-4). Jasmine Lopez was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. CL South slipped to 14-11, 8-8 with the loss.

Cary-Grove 11, CL Central 1: Rachel Stanley scattered 5 hits as Cary-Grove (6-15, 6-8) won this FVC game. Katy Wierczorek (2 RBI), Kelly Johnson (2B, RBI) and Taylor Langguth (2B, 2 RBI) led the Trojans' offense.

Burlington Central 8, Harvard 0: Julia Barnes (11-4) picked up the win for the Rockets (12-6, 9-1) in this Kishwaukee River win.

St. Edward 10, Guerin 0: Jessy Kramp had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Jackie Boyston added 2 doubles and an RBI for St. Edward (12-15, 8-8) in its Metro Suburban win. Kaitlin Freeman had a triple for the Green Wave and Devyn Ernst drove in 2 runs. Emily Stapay was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
