Gurnee Mills' Zumba event benefits Susan G. Komen

Lake County community members dressed in pink and exercised for a good cause as Gurnee Mills held its inaugural More Thank Pink Zumba Party to benefit Susan G. Komen in the fight against breast cancer.

The events took place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, in the shopping center's show court.

Three FitNation local Zumba instructors - Laura King, Sisi Andrade and Cristina Garcimartin - and Susan G. Komen representatives led participants in a Zumba program. Zumba is a fitness program that combines aerobics and dance performed to music.

Held in conjunction with the Gurnee Park District, the event gave supporters the opportunity to get moving and have fun while supporting Susan G. Komen's mission to save lives and end breast cancer forever.

The first 150 participants received a Gurnee Mills swag bag filled with goodies and retailer coupons. Participants also had the opportunity to register on-site for the Komen Chicagoland Mother's Day Race for the Cure, to be held May 14, and purchase a $10 savings pass, with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen.

The event was part of Gurnee Mills' Spring 2017 More Than Pink movement in support of Susan G. Komen, which began April 10 and runs through May 31. It is part of a pledge to donate $1 million each year in 2017 and 2018 by more than 180 participating Simon Malls, The Mills and Premium Outlets nationwide.
