Softball: Stevenson finishes fast against Prospect

Stevenson scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in claiming a 12-5 victory in 5 innings on Saturday against Prospect in nonconference play.

Alana Labaschin hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to score the final two runs.

Emma Oriatti was 3-for-3 on the day with 2 home runs and a triple. She drove in 7 runs and scored 2.

Illyssa Muise was the winning pitcher. She scattered 3 hits and 5 walks.

Stevenson is now 12-13 on the season.

Antioch 10, Buffalo Grove 7: Antioch rolled up 16 totals hits in the nonconference win and was up 5-0 after the first inning.

Jillian Foote, Ashley Stephens, Megan Lawrence and Jackalyn Geraty each had 3 hits in the victory.

Winning pitcher Stephanie Bonaguidi had 5 strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings.

Lake Zurich 5, Rolling Meadows 3: Jessica Puccinelli had 2 hits, including a home run, to lead Lake Zurich to the nonconference win.

Sarah Schnecker and Abby Jokerst each had 2 hits as well. Both had a double.

Winning pitcher Juliana Hood gave up only 2 walks over five innings.

Stephanie Keefe got the save for Lake Zurich, which is now 13-10 on the season.

Vernon Hills drops 2: Vernon Hills lost two 1-run games; 8-7 to Lake Forest and 3-2 to Glenbrook South.

Against Lake Forest, Delaney Bowen drove in 2 runs and had 2 hits, including a double.

Elisa Handler and Mackenzie Mahler each had 2 hits for the Cougars, who rolled up 12 hits on the game.

Against Glenbrook South, Vernon Hills got 2 hits from Nicole Pieper and Mackenzie Mahler.
