No injuries in Naperville basement fire

Naperville firefighters put out a basement fire early Friday, keeping the house where the fire started habitable and preventing any injuries, authorities said.

The fire began in the basement of a one-story house on the 400 block of South Whispering Hills Drive about 2:10 a.m., Naperville Fire Department Bureau Chief of Training Tom Moran said in a news release

Firefighters arrived at the house near Aurora and Ogden avenues three minutes after a resident called to report fire and smoke in the basement. Soon 12 fire vehicles carrying 26 firefighters were on the scene, and the team "quickly" put out the fire, Moran said.

The department is still investigating what caused the fire.

Naperville police assisted at the scene.
