Elmhurst man charged with theft, attempted robbery

A 43-year-old Elmhurst man faces charges of attempted robbery, felony theft and theft of services in connection with two separate cases on Wednesday in the city.

Elmhurst police said Joseph A. Pulido of the 900 block of Hillcrest entered the Shell station at 103 W. Third St. about 3:15 a.m. and demanded money from the cashier. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

He was apprehended a short time later on Hillcrest where police said they recovered the proceeds from the robbery.

As part of their investigation, police said they discovered Pulido had entered the 7-Eleven at 572 S. York Road earlier that same night and unsuccessfully tried to rob the store clerk by implying he had a gun.

Police said the theft charges stemmed from the gas station case and the attempted robbery charge came from the 7-Eleven case.
