Storm damage closes trails at Brown County State Park

NASHVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Storm damage has left trails closed at one of Indiana's most popular state parks.

Brown County State Park interpretive naturalist Patrick Haulter said Wednesday only two trails are completely cleared of downed trees from last weekend's storms.

Haulter tells The (Bloomington) Herald-Times (http://bit.ly/2pyXapH ) that 30 miles of horse trails and the mountain bike trails throughout the park haven't been cleared of storm debris yet.

He says state park workers from Shakamak State Park and Lake Monroe have been brought in to help clear the trails. Volunteers will help clear the horse trails this weekend, and the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association will have work sessions this weekend to start clearing the bike trails. The group hopes to have some bike trails open by Sunday.
