Hill honored for service on Geneva Park District Foundation Board
The Geneva Park District Board and staff recognized Sam Hill for his 23 years of service as a founding and dedicated member of the Geneva Park District Foundation Board April 13.
In addition to being instrumental to the Geneva Park District Foundation Board, Hill served the community in several ways. He was a Geneva Park District Board member for eight years, an alderman for the City of Geneva for 12 years, and a member of the Geneva Public Library Foundation and a past plan commission member.
"Sam is truly dedicated to serving the community of Geneva, and his commitment and generosity is remarkable. He has built a true legacy in Geneva," said Mayor Kevin Burns.
"Sam's loyalty, commitment, and pride for the good of our community are demonstrated through all the positions he has volunteered his time for," said Sheavoun Lambillotte, executive director of the Geneva Park District.
Stephen Persinger, retired Geneva Park District executive director, shared stories of attending legislative conferences and grant meetings in Springfield with Sam Hill as a former Geneva Park District board member and foundation member.
"Sam assisted in obtaining the grant that allowed the Geneva Park District to purchase the land from the Peck Family, now Peck Farm Park a true gem of Geneva," Persinger said.
Members of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Geneva Park District, Geneva Park District Foundation and the City of Geneva, along with family and friends, attended Hill's farewell celebration.
"Keep at it! Geneva is such a great city and a terrific place to live," said Hill as he ended the night and thanked everyone in attendance.
