Pallet to Palate to support Food for Greater Elgin

Food for Greater Elgin invites the community to its fourth annual "Pallet to Palate" event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, at The Haight, 166 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin.

Enjoy food and beverages, music by the The Humble Organisms, a chance to win getaways and packages, and mingling.

Tickets are $50 each. For $140, get two tickets and include a $40 donation to provide two carts of groceries. For tickets or donations, visit FoodforGreaterElgin.org.

Support Food for Greater Elgin and its efforts to fight youth hunger!

Participating restaurants include: Aliano's Ristorante, East Dundee, Blue Box Cafe, Cafe Roma, Crumpet's Luncheonette Tea Room Bakery LLC, Delish Cakes, Duke's Catering, Francesca's Campagna, Grand Victoria Casino, Lagunitas Brewing Co, Martini Room and more.

One in seven people in the community is food insecure. Food for Greater Elgin, the largest client-choice food pantry in the service area of Elgin, South Elgin and East Dundee, provides stability and promotion of independence to more than 1,200 households every month.

Food for Greater Elgin strives to combat food insecurity by employing a holistic approach to fighting hunger. The clients have access to fresh, plentiful, nutritious food through five weekly client-choice food distributions and supportive programming designed to address the underlying root causes contributing to food insecurity.

Through an abundance of healthy food and collaborations with other organizations and businesses, they reach each month nearly 6,000 individuals; nearly half of whom are children.
