Viking Park Singers host Italian Fest April 28 in Gurnee

Submitted by the Gurnee Park District

Italy will be coming to Gurnee on Friday, April 28. Gurnee Park District's Viking Park Singers, community chorus, will be hosting their annual Italian Fest at Viking Park, 4374 Old Grand Ave.

"This is a truly magical event. As soon as you walk into the Dance Hall doors at Viking Park Community Center, you smell the warm Saluto's spaghetti, hear the sounds of Italy and see all the smiling faces of our community chorus," chorus director Rita Byrd said. "We have been hosting this event for over 20 years. It first started with the singers making their very own sauce. Now since the participation has grown, Saluto's has stepped up to help out with the event."

There will be two seatings: one from 5-6:30 p.m. and one from 6:45-8:15 p.m. Each time will feature a 30-minute performance from the Viking Park Singers. The singers will also be the servers for the evening.

Tickets are $11 and $6 for children ages 2-10. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.

"Our Viking Park Singers have been together since 1989. We are 100 percent committed to bringing beautiful music to our community, and we are looking forward to performing on April 28," Byrd said.

Viking Park Singers welcomes new members. For more information on the event or to join the Viking Park Singers team, visit www.GurneeParkDistrict.com. The event is sponsored by Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care and Saluto's.
