Softball: Grayslake Central wins with shutout

Nicole Buerger homered and drove in 5 runs, and Reagen Radke pitched shutout softball for the second day in a row, as Grayslake Central defeated Maine West 9-0 at Rolling Meadows on Friday night.

Radke allowed just 4 hits, struck out eight and induced a double-play to end the game.

Buerger led Grayslake Central (12-3) at the plate, finishing 2-for-3. She drove in runs on a home run in the second and single in the third.

The Rams took an early lead in the second inning on Kaci Snyder's RBI single.

Brooke Heraty (3-for-4) and Radke (2-for-2, double) also had multiple hits for the Rams.

Stevenson 17, Vernon Hills 4: Carly Perkins had 4 hits and scored 4 runs to pace the Patriot's offensive attack in the nonconference game.

Every starter had a hit and scored a run for Stevenson. Vera Pflugradt, Emma Oriatti and Anna Fossier each had 3 hits. Fossier drove in 4 runs, while Alana Labaschin and Oriatti each had 3 RBI. Fossier doubled twice. Pflugradt, Labaschin and Gina Shanley also had doubles. Riley Housinger earned the win.

Vernon Hills' Elisa Handler was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Grant 12, Mundelein 6: On Thursday night at Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, Becca Wold was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, as the Bulldogs won the nonconference game.

Grant (13-2) got 2 hits apiece from Calista Warmowki (double, triple, 3 RBI), Erin Bengston (triple, 2 RBI) and Megan Mitchell (double, 2 RBI). Winning pitcher Sydney Goessele added a double.

Mundelein was led offensively by Meghan Ehemann (3-for-4, double). Jordyn West (2-for-4, triple) and Kaitlyn Griffin (2-for-3). OIivia Michalski added a double.
