Baseball: Korus' game-winner keeps Barrington perfect in MSL

Barrington remains unbeaten in Mid-Suburban West baseball after Jeff Korus' RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning made the difference in a 3-2 victory against visiting Conant on Monday.

Korus finished 3-for-4; Devin Seibert and David Mitchell also drove in 1 run each and Tyler Trojan had 2 hits for the Broncos (14-4, 4-0).

Ryan Loutos gave up a pair of unearned runs in the third inning but ended up getting the win after tossing a complete game. He allowed 4 hits, struck out 10 and walked one.

Tyler Hedmen doubled and drove in a run for Conant (6-8, 2-2). Starter Joe Kawalek did not get a decision after allowing 1 run through 6 innings.

Buffalo Grove 11, Elk Grove 1 (5 inn.): The host Bison stole 8 bases and drew 4 walks, making the most of their 6 hits to win in the MSL East.

John Carpinelli stole 2 bags and scored twice for the Bison (9-1-1, 2-1), while Chase Marsh had 2 hits and Zach Fricke and Tyler Rundquist both drove in 2 runs.

Fricke got the win after allowing 3 hits and striking out seven in 5 innings.

Ryne Singsank had a double for Elk Grove (4-9, 0-4).

Fremd 4, Schaumburg 0: Eric Bennes pitched a dominant shutout for the host Vikings, striking out 13 and allowing just 2 singles in a complete-game gem.

Leadoff man Luke Seidel had 2 hits for Fremd (5-8, 1-2), which got a triple from Tommy Wingen and doubles from Bennes and Tommy Josten.

Fred Yuen had both hits for the Saxons (5-8, 0-3).

Palatine 8, Hoffman Estates 2: The visiting Pirates scored 2 runs in both of the first two innings on their way to an MSL West victory.

Jake Andersen homered, Zach Oles double and drove in 3 runs and Jack Grochowski had a triple and finished 3-for-4 for Palatine (8-7, 3-1). John Weber, Oles and J.T. Streepy each had 2 hits for the Pirates.

Grochowski earned win after allowing 4 hits and 3 walk with 8 strikeouts over 6 innings.

Tom Curcio had a double for the Hawks (2-7, 1-2).

Prospect 3, Rolling Meadows 0: The Knights got a complete-game shutout from Ben Courtney (2 hits, 6 strikeouts, 1 walk), and Grant Zellmer homered and drove in 2 runs.

Prospect (6-6, 3-0) was limited to 3 hits by Marco Perez of Rolling Meadows (1-9, 0-3).

St. Viator 10, St. Patrick 0 (6 inn.): Casey Pulikowski allowed 3 hits while fanning five and walking two as the host Lions rolled to an East Suburban Catholic victory.

Casey Kmet had a solo homer, Joe Samello doubled and drove in 3 runs and Cole Kmet had 2 hits, including a double. St. Viator (9-6) drew 7 walks against three St. Patrick pitchers.
