Girls soccer: Geneva blanks South Elgin
Geneva's girls soccer team continued to streak Monday, as the Vikings posted their ninth shutout of the year and had 6 different players score in a 7-0 win over South Elgin.
The Vikings improved to 10-0, which is the best start in Megan Owens' 9 years at the helm. Jenna Dominguez tallied 2 goals and 1 assist while Stephanie Howe and Sydney Gratz each had 1 goal and 1 assist in Upstate Eight crossover action. Alicia White totaled 2 assists while Molly McGavin, Caitlin Farrell and Anneliese Lockner also added goals. Goalkeepers Emma Harkleroad (3 saves) and Katie Montgomery (2 saves) combined for the shutout and to date Geneva has allowed 1 goal all season.
Bartlett 7, Hoffman Estates 1: In the battle of the Hawks, Bartlett's were more predatory as Jessica Mirsky (1 assist), Jenna Dombrowski and Brooke Bednarke each delivered 2 goals. Also scoring for Bartlett (6-5-1) was Tabitha Evans, who accounted for 1 goal and 1 assist while Sarah Jurek had a hat trick of assists. Alyssa Modugno and Maddie Donnelly also added assists.
Burlington Central 8, Marengo 0: In Kishwaukee River action, the Rockets (10-1-1) improved to 6-0 in conference thanks to a big night from Kyrsten Pellikan, who totaled 2 goals and 2 assists. Sydney Pryor, Jordan King and Zoey Kollhoff also had 2 goals each and Anna McMahon and Elizabeth Gousios each had 2 assists. Alexis Rosa added 1 assist and goalie Erin Rafferty needed just 1 save to record a shutout.
