Let's disappoint at re-election time

The Republicans have now passed a bill that allows Comcast and other Internet providers to sell our browsing history and private information without our consent.

The law also relieves Internet providers of any liability for failing to protect our privacy. Our congressman, Randy Hultgren, a Tea Party Republican, voted for this law.

There was probably not a single voter in Hultgren's district who wanted Comcast and the rest to be able to sell their private internet history. So why did he do it?

The answer is simple. "Follow the money." Holtgren and the rest of the Republicans acted at the behest of the lobbyists and special interests that give them money. Hultgren is counting on the idea that we will not remember what he did when he runs for re-election in 2018.

Let us disappoint him.
