Alice Gustafson School holds its first McTeacher's Night at Batavia McDonald's

Alice Gustafson School of Batavia Unit District 101 held its first McTeacher's Night April 13 at the Batavia McDonald's on Wilson St. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for AGS. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty teachers worked from the school. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, serving ice cream and clearing tables. All duties which were executed with great enthusiasm and huge smiles from everyone.

The students had a great time tipping their teachers so they would sing the McDonald's jingle, "I'm Lovin' It," over and over again. This was an exciting night for the school and the community which showed by the large number of families that showed up and took part in this fundraising event.

A huge thank you goes out to the PTO, Mary Anne Callahan, director of ways and means, as well as everyone that came out to support the Batavia school. The school plans to use the money raised toward the items needed in the Learning Resource Center.
