'Spamalot' gallops into the Buffalo Grove High School theater

The award-winning Broadway musical "Spamalot" will play on the Buffalo Grove High School theater stage from Thursday, April 20 through Saturday, April 22.

With book and lyrics by Monty Python member Eric Idle and score created by Idle and John Du Prez, "Spamalot" is the highly irreverent retelling of the Arthurian legend. The show was the winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, among other accolades.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. Co-directed by Buffalo Grove Theater Directors Lauren Stenzel and Beth Wells, the show will be in the school's theater, 1100 W. Dundee Road, in Buffalo Grove. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online at bghs.d214.org.

Buffalo Grove's production of "Spamalot" features a large cast of new and veteran student performers. The show re-imagines the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The tale follows King Arthur and his trusty servant Patsy as they recruit an army of knights to assist in the quest to find the Holy Grail.

Between killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, flying cows and a Lady of the Lake who laments being left out of the actual quest, the Knights of the Round Table do routines and chorus scenes in this fun musical.
